A New Start.
After several false starts with web services and folks who offered to “help” or even charged money for not helping, (and won’t give it back), I have taken it upon myself to produce the Mixers website. I last did web development in the mid 1990s where the world was very different, Netscape ruled and Internet Explorer was the interloper. I hosted the website on my work computer and the tools were very different and quite cool like Microsoft Frontpage. Of course, being me I ended up hard coding almost everything in HTML. In those distant days I also used to write software, so it wasn’t that to weird
These days everything seems to be web-based, along with the ugly step-sister “Subscription based model.” What ever happened to the good old days when you could buy a “perpetual license?” I have a lot of software I bought years ago and still use, except I could never re-install if I needed to because the license servers are no longer around.
Enough of that. I have some lofty aims for this website.
- Keep folks informed about what is happening at Mixers.
- Photo galleries of both Mixers events and other events of interest to the Baltimore LGBTQ+ community.
- Links pages with links to useful resources and community approved vendors. I’m going to need you input on this!
- Links to news and articles of interest.
- Information pages on topics of interest to the LGBTQ+ community. I’m going to need help on this as well.
I’m looking forward to any feedback about what you would like to see on the website. I want to grow this into something BIG!
Greetings from Mitzi, (also sometimes known as Alan)
